How our albums work

At Handy Hands Reflections

We create and DONATE memory albums for families who have experienced a loss of a loved one or are faced with the hardships of terminal illness. We do this in a couple of ways;  first we will ask a few simple questions, so we can personalize the albums to fit the lifestyle of who the album is for. When you receive the album, it will be ready for you and your loved ones to add your memories with pictures and journaling.

Our mission has changed over the past year of two; we are focusing on children, when a child passes or a parent of children, are left behind… they get albums first and foremost. We will also continue to do albums for anyone of any age… but my love for children and family are so strong and the importance of a memory album holding the memories of their loved one is such a treasured gift, one that’s priceless.

While a loved one is on HOSPICE…

When we give a family an album, who have a loved one on hospice care, the album can help the the patient by them looking over the memories of his/her life. While reviewing their life through pictures, they see that they had a good life, they mattered to someone and someone mattered to them… as well as feeling comforted knowing that they will be memorialized in their album.

Most importantly, the pictures can act as a tool, opening the door for conversation. They will give families something positive to talk about, stirring memories of  good times and fun experiences. While doing this, the patient can get their memory of the event into the album, instead of someone else’s memory, of their memory.

One more advantage of our albums, especially with the elderly; is getting their memories documented with pictures and/or journaling, so the history of the family will be there for you and future generations.

We have been told our albums are heartwarming, just to be able to hold the album, touch the pictures or seeing their writing (which we suggest putting in the album) can give great comfort. It is easier and faster than getting out a cell phone, computer or other electronic device and way more personal.

As always, if you know of a family who could benefit by receiving one of our albums please contact us. We will ask a few questions so we can get just the right touches into the album, then we will do our best to get a personalized album to you in a reasonable amount of time.
